Leading Technologies in overhead conductors

HIGH-TEMPERATURE-RESISTANT OVERHEAD CONDUCTORS able to withstand temperatures up to 150°C

MORE CAPACITY – INCREASE IN TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE

During periods when there is limited availability of overhead line routes, uprating existing overhead lines becomes even more important. LUMPI-BERNDORF has specialised in this area and provides solutions using thermal resistant conductors that incorporate an aluminium zirconium alloy. Zirconium raises the recrystallisation temperature and therefore makes it possible to increase the permissible operating temperature to 150 °C

In order to satisfy the mechanical requirements of overhead line construction, thermal resistant conductors are reinforced with aluminium clad steel or specially alloyed steel wires. Both standard cross sections and customised special designs can be provided.

"HOT AND BLACK" - BLACK HIGH TEMPERATURE CONDUCTORS

Conductors with a black surface have been developed in order to optimise the operational behaviour and the continuous current carrying capacity. The black conductor surface causes an improvement in the heat emission, meaning that the conductor stays significantly cooler for a given transfer performance or, conversely, more energy can be transferred at a given conductor temperature.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

Due to the fact that the continuous current carrying capacity is up to approx. 50% higher compared to ACSR with the same cross section, a capacity increase of up to approx. 50% is also possible. One of the most cost-effective solutions for uprating existing systems. These conductors can also be used to generate transmission reserves. Due to the higher short circuit current, the conductors also ensure greater operational safety.

VERSIONS

In order to reduce visibility in particularly sensitive environmental areas or to optimise the continuous current load, the thermal resistant conductor can be coated in a specific colour. Using a special surface treatment, a "noise-reduced conductor" version is also possible.
